What can you learn from your dreams? Dreams allow us to process important information or events that we are working through in our daily life but may not be aware of what the problem or solution is. Dreams bring a deeper awareness to our lives and help us to sort through conflicts or desires that are kept below our conscious thinking during our busy daily lives.
Dreaming is the communication bridge between our conscious and unconscious mind, helping us to create a more full and purposeful life.
Dreams let us play out painful or puzzling emotions or experiences in a safe place. “Dreams also allow us to process information or events that may be painful or confusing in an environment that is at once emotionally real but physically unreal.”
How To Analyze Your Dreams
Here are some easy ways to analyze your dreams and increase self discovery:
Record your dreams. Remind yourself before sleep that you will remember your dream and keep a notepad or better yet, a tape recorder that you can use if you awaken in the middle of the night and are too tired to write your dream down. Just write…don’t edit and don’t try to make sense of it… free flow writing is recommended. You may not remember your dreams right away but be patient and as you continue to invite your dreams they will come to you.
Identify how you were feeling in the dream. It is very important to record your feelings in the dream. Ask yourself ‘how did I feel’ what was I feeling”. This process will help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
Identify recurring thoughts in your dreams and daily life. Your recurrent thoughts and actions in your dreams are important messages that may need your attention in order to overcome conflicts and improve your quality of life. Write down the recurrent feelings, themes and actions in these dreams
Remember this is your personal journey to self awareness. You are the expert of your own experience and your dreams. Do you want to start finding answers to your conflicts and move toward a deeper awareness of your desires and happiness…start journaling.
