EMDR For Trauma

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma processing method. Painful memories can be reduced by using bilateral stimulation while a patient recalls the memory.

EMDR for Performance Enhancement

When time is limited and a person needs to build confidence quickly, I use an EMDR Performance Enhancement technique, which helps people such as speakers, performers, musicians, or artists with upcoming events where they need to build confidence. A 30 minute session is very helpful in creating successful performance.

The demands of today’s business world puts incredible pressure on employees to function at peak performance. Learning how to deal with the stress, how to better pace yourself, and how to recharge your batteries after burnout will let you enjoy your work again and still have the time and energy for leisure activities. I have several techniques to help you get your life back in order. Contact me and we’ll discuss what’s best for you.

About EMDR

EMDR is a powerful psychotherapy technique that has been very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post traumatic stress, overeating, fibromyalgia, obsessive compulsion, and addictions. Until recently, these conditions were difficult and time-consuming to treat. EMDR is considered a breakthrough therapy because of its simplicity and the fact that it can bring quick and long-lasting relief for most types of emotional distress.

EMDR is the most effective and rapid method for healing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) as shown by extensive scientific research studies. Although it is not yet understood exactly why or how EMDR works, its effectiveness emerges consistently from controlled studies. Brain scan research suggests the amygdala and hippocampus are stimulated by the EMDR process. These areas of the brain are instrumental in resolving traumatic memory.

As a therapist, I work gently and ask you to carefully revisit the traumatic moment or incident, recalling feelings surrounding the experience, as well as any negative thoughts, feelings, and memories. Then, I have you use a headphone that emits a soft beeping sound.

You will track the bilateral movements as if watching a ping pong match or using your hands, you will feel the left-right tapping. The more intensely you focus on the memory, the easier it becomes for the memory to come to life. As quick and vibrant images arise during the therapy session, they are processed by the bilateral movements, resulting in painful feelings being exchanged for more peaceful, loving, and resolved feelings.
